This was pretty interesting to play! I got kinda stuck in the Infernal Wastes and couldn't gather materials from the Crystal Caverns without dying. I restarted a couple times but couldn't figure out the recipes :'D

I think this is a really cool idea for a game, though! I like the idle-lite elements, and crafting things and having them work felt very satisfying.

Thanks for the comment! Just a hint: There are items in each biome that help to survive some other biome. So there is kind of a progression that way. Check tooltips for the "-enemy dmg" stat.

Thanks! I’ll try again!

Watch out, the Game Design Document needs to be viewable without downloading and opening a file. Host it on google drive and make sure it's set public

I like this game: audio feels good, the game is easy to pickup and fits the theme of the Jam.

Just like QuietThunder already said, there are a few bugs I noticed and I'll just add to that feedback:

  • Wearing three of the same T2 attack interval item bugs the combat (sword goes brrrrrr and makes it rain loot). This works for all of them, not just the one for Enchanted Forest.
  • Tooltip for the Frostfire Gem shows one incorrect ingredient: Fire Essence should be Lava Shard. The FF Gem is still made with Ice Crystal and Lava Shard (or two of either one, which is I assume is not intended, makes the game too easy IMO)

This last part is just a suggestion, but it would probably feel better if the T3 items had different functions:

  • Veil of Shadows: reduces damage from shadows
  • Wraithblade: deals more damage to shadows
  • Shadowbrew: makes you "one with the shadows" (idk how to describe it, you absorb shadow energy or something like that), and heals you while in the Shadow Realm

Adjusting the values on the items and shadow enemies HP, damage and attack speed so that you can just barely survive and beat them when you have all three items. E.g. If you don't have the blade, you can't do enough damage even if you had defense + defense OR defense + healing.

Great brew this one, keep it up!

Thanks for the comment. I fixed those bugs and uploading a new version now. The idea for the Shadow-items is cool and I would really love to make the idle-combat deeper. It would be nice to have some resistances, different attack elements and so on. But a jam game is a jam game so I ended up with a very simple system. First idea for this game was only a transmutation puzzle game, but I ended up liking the idea of some "combat" system to loot resources.

Edit: Bugs fixed for now.

Interesting concept and easy to learn to play.

Three bugs I've spotted, I think.

1: loot from scavenging isn't always added to the inventory, though it is listed in the log. I think only the first item in the log is added.

2: you can combine any t1 item with itself to get a t2 object, and any t2 with itself to get a t3. E.g. Shadow Fragment and Shadow Fragment create Shadow Steel. This may be intentional, but it looks like it was supposed to be Shadow Fragment with Metallic Ore to create Shadow Steel. I was able to create a Wraithblade turning 4 Shadow Fragments into 2 Shadowsteel, then combining those. This should be fixable by adding a check to make sure both pedestal slots don't contain the same item.

3: Wearing three phoenix armour in the enchanted forest bugs the combat and leads to massive loot gain.

A suggestion for an improvement - the scavenging is a little too slow I think. If there was a button to speed it up, or perhaps something to do while waiting, it'd be less tedious waiting for the scavenging to finish.

Good job tho - I like it!

Thanks for the comment! Didn't even spot these bugs myself. On my way to fix them before the jam ends.

I was aiming with the attack timer so that early game is somewhat slow so that player takes time to read tooltips and learn about different items. Later on it becomes incredibly fast (1sec at best after my bug fix).

Edit: I removed 1 second from the timer now, not much but enough to not make me redo the attack speed buff items. Bugs fixed for now.
